The Range Rover of the 48-year-old singer/producer was recovered early this morning, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. The “Right Now” singer, whose real name is Aliaune Damala Badara Akon Thiam, told police he left his car running and was pumping gas when someone got into the driver's seat.
“He indicated that when his tank was almost full, he spotted his white Range Rover... moving off while he was still pumping his gas,” Atlanta police said in an incident report issued today.
Akon said he observed as the SUV turned right onto Sidney Marcus Boulevard and was followed out of the gas station by a dark-colored vehicle, according to detectives. The suspect's car was seen driving into the gas station at 11:37 p.m. and pulling alongside the Range Rover, according to surveillance footage.
